Prestin and I Try Adult Coloring

This past week, my wonderful boyfriend and I tried something new. Every once in a while, I will look up the events going on around our little town to try to figure out new things we can try. Last week, our library was putting on an adult coloring event, and we decided to go try it out. The event went from 2PM-5PM, so we weren’t expecting too many people to be there because most would still be working.

When we got there, there were only about 8 people there. There was a table set up at the front with various coloring pages, markers, colored pencils, and pens. At each of the tables, there were other colored pencils, crayons, and a sharpener. After flipping through a few different pages, Prestin decided on a page with vine snakes and I decided on a page with a crocodile.

We found a seat and got to work. We started at around 2:30 PM and had expected to get done with a couple of drawings by the time 5 PM rolled around. They had modern instrumental music playing in the background. We laughed when songs like Lil Jon’s “Get Low” and Nirvana’s “Lithium” would play.

Looking around the room, we were the youngest present by decades. We were also the least serious about the coloring that was happening. I kid you not, there were people that came with their own pages and own supplies and were beyond focused on their pages.

We obviously were not the most “focused” ones there.

We tried to make it as fun as we could.

When there was about 30 minutes left, I still had a good amount of my page left, so I had to rush through the last bit because I knew I would never finish it when we returned home. I know that adult coloring like this is supposed to be a good stress reliever, but those last 30 minutes were some of the most stressful of my life. Prestin would agree with this as we both wanted to finish before we left.

Luckily, we were able to complete our masterpieces before we left, and it actually ended up being a rather fun experience.
